The opening of the Netherlands’ largest factory for European custom lithium batteries and energy storage systems is a fact! After three years of intensive planning, design and construction, we proudly opened the doors of our brand new production center on the Oudeweg in Haarlem this month. With 8,680 square meters, this modern facility is not only the largest in the Netherlands, but also fully built according to the latest PGS 37-2 guidelines. An important step towards safe battery storage and production in Europe.
250+ battery systems per month
With the new factory, we can already assemble more than 250 advanced battery systems per month. The production centre is designed as a modular assembly line – a kind of ‘train’ – for efficient battery production. Only the battery cells are imported, so that we can always work with the latest innovations in battery technology.
Solution for grid congestion
The pressure on the Dutch power grid is increasing, with companies not getting heavier grid connections and sustainability projects stalling. Here we offer a solution. “Every day we see entrepreneurs who get stuck in their sustainability plans. Our batteries literally give them energy,” says Vincent Kleintjens, co-founder of Intercel.
Customized batteries for electrification
The new plant is not only an answer to today’s grid problems, but also to the growing demand for emission-free propulsion systems. We supply custom batteries for the electrification of diesel machines, such as heavy electric shovels and industrial installations. “The largest machines are going electric – faster than expected. We ensure that this is technically and operationally feasible,” says Business Development Manager Dirk van Gogswaardt.
According to the strictest safety requirements
Just like our batteries, our premises are designed with safety as a top priority. Among other things, it features battery safes for the storage of heavy lithium batteries and a 400,000-liter water supply for heat protection. This means that we meet the strictest requirements for battery production and storage. The result is a factory that is ready for the future of renewable energy.
