Cellpower offers BGO the solution for grid congestion
When BGO decided to build an Expat Hotel for workers in the Waalwijk area, everything seemed to be going according to plan. They found a suitable location and had the investors to make their sustainable vision a reality. But then came the reality of the energy market: no major power connection would be available for at least five to seven years. For a project focused entirely on sustainability, gas was not an option. BGO faced a challenge that threatened to delay their entire project.
“We didn’t know how to proceed without power,” says Ron van Dinteren, real estate entrepreneur and co-owner of the company BGO (Brabants Glorie Ontwikkeling). “It was a huge setback, so we had to get creative. Together with their partners DeWit and Drabbe Techniek, BGO set out to find an innovative solution. It was then that they came in contact with Cellpower, Intercel’s Dutch brand of energy storage systems.
“Intercel was the only one who could provide clear explanations right from the start, which gave us confidence.”

“Very quickly, Intercel proved to be the partner BGO was looking for,” Van Dinteren continued. “Three Cellpower 233 kWh energy storage systems from Intercel proved to be the appropriate product solution to our problem, but Intercel also offered the expertise and guidance BGO needed. They had an immediate plan and knew exactly what was involved. We did review more companies in the beginning, but many were startups and we were always their first customer. We didn’t want to take that risk. The guidance and expertise from Intercel were important reasons why we chose Cellpower products.”
Innovative energy solutions from Intercel
Before Cellpower energy storage systems are delivered to site, they are first assembled and extensively tested in Haarlem by Intercel. Dutch Intercel is involved in every step of the product: from calculating the required power and implementing safety standards around the installation to applying Dutch energy management software. For Intercel, commitment and expertise from start to finish are essential to build, deliver and maintain a reliable energy product.
For the Expat Hotel, Intercel provided a scalable solution with three energy storage systems, fully tailored to the site’s energy needs. One of the key benefits Intercel offers with the placement of the Cellpower energy storage systems is peak shaving. Thanks to battery storage, the battery captures peaks in energy consumption. The system stores energy during the day and during quiet times from solar panels and small power outlets and uses this stored power during peak times, such as in the evening when everyone comes home. Thanks to this system, BGO is less dependent on the power grid with its Expat Housing complex and, despite years of waiting for a large fixed power connection, can still open its Expat Hotel on time.
“Not only do Cellpower’s batteries convince, but also the advance advice, installation and long-term support. Intercel offers the complete picture. “
More efficient towards the future
Thanks to Cellpower storage systems, BGO now manages their energy efficiently. By combining self-generated solar energy with battery storage for peak loads, they are less dependent on the grid and have significantly reduced their energy costs. This approach enables BGO to deliver future projects both more efficiently and more sustainably, and provides an important innovation for any future-oriented construction project. Ron van Dinteren concludes, “Intercel has proven experience and the knowledge we needed. With the Cellpower storage systems we are now powering our Expat Hotel, and we look forward to continuing this cooperation on our future projects. Intercel is a reliable partner for us.”
